When I refused, he took you from my arms and told the hospital I was unstable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The groom looked at his father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIs this true?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His father\u2019s jaw tightened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe was poor. She would have destroyed your life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The groom\u2019s eyes filled with tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou destroyed hers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bride stepped back, horrified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then the beggar woman looked at her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m sorry, child.
